In my fruitless pursuit of the opposite sex, I've tried quite a few online dating sites. For Valentine's Day, here's a quick account of my experience:
Match.com ($): This seemed like the most superficial of all the sites. I think I met two people off of Match. One guy was really smart, but socially awkward. The other guy got drunk on our date. All the rest didn't give me the light of day.
Verdict: I don't think I would try this one again.
eHarmony ($): This site seemed promising, but I didn't get anywhere. I signed up for 3 months and I continued talking to one guy via email, but he never asked me out, so I stopped emailing. I'm glad I found a coupon code because it's really expensive. I think I would have met more people, but eHarmony has a lot of steps in place before that happens.
Verdict: I would try this one again, but only if I have another coupon.
OKCupid (free): I tried this site for a couple of weeks and their system is not that great. They have a matching system, but no one seems to contact you unless you're new to the site.
Verdict: I'm still on this site, but I never log in. I should probably just delete my account.
Plentyoffish (free): I tried this one for a couple of days but, I bailed because the interface is just terrible.
Verdict: Deleted my account.
Yahoo! ($): I'm on Yahoo! personals, but you can't do anything unless you pay. I have yet to pay for a subscription, so I can't give an accurate account of this site.
Verdict: This would be my next choice if I decide to pay for another site.
Any feedback from your online dating experiences? Any recommendations for a site to try?

My New Year's Resolutions
I know everyone makes resolutions they don't keep, but I'm going to try my best to keep mine - here they are, in no particular order:
1) Limit myself to 3 drinks per outing - I did a really good job of getting my drinking under control in 2008, but I still had a couple of let's say embarrassing and "angry drunk" moments of which I'm not too proud. I'm WAY too old still be having those moments. I should be able to gauge my alcohol consumption by now. Thus, I will limit myself. We'll see how this pans out.
2) Stop generalizing - ok this may be a weird one to people, but I do it when I don't mean it and it definitely comes off totally wrong the majority of the time. Ex: People are weird about their pets. I know that one is particularly tame, but you can see where I'm going.
3) Get in better shape and hopefully lose weight - ya ya, everyone says this every year. I lost 10 lbs last year and I only stopped losing because every spare minute I had last semester was dedicated to school -- and that is no exaggeration. For 2009, I hope to lose at least 10 lbs and look as ripped as Jesus for my big 3-0 (eeeeeek!).
That's it - and that's enough! :) Good luck with your resolutions!

Dear snow: you suck
As many of you know, Seattle (and Portland) had an amazing amount of snow these past couple of weeks (over 1 foot of accumulation). I was lucky enough to get in before the "big storm" hit last Saturday. Unfortunately, I did not know how truly bad the weather conditions were... I brought a coat and gloves, but I failed to bring a hat or scarf thinking the snow was just "Seattle snow". (def: Seattle snow is approximately 2-3" and melts pretty quickly.) However, I was wrong - way wrong. I'm staying with my grandma in Shoreline (north of Seattle proper) and the roads here are better now, but barely passable until today. I went out today and STILL slipped going through her neighborhood.
I've been really bored and been trying to keep my sanity by watching TV and now, surfing the internet. Our Christmas Eve plans were ruined due to the snow, and gifts did not arrive on time that were ordered on the internet. Overall, this Christmas barely felt like Christmas compared to holidays past. I am glad I finally get to see a couple of my friends tomorrow, but I think that will be it, as I fly out tomorrow evening. It sucks that I came to town and all my plans were just thrown out the window to sit at home and do pretty much nothing. I'm also bummed that I was not able to see some friends and visit some of my favorite restaurants and bars while in town. I'm glad my grandma has a Subaru so we could at least venture out a couple of times. If she didn't have that car, I don't know if I would have ever gotten out of the house!! At least I got to see my family for Christmas, but I really wished I was able to see more people.
I hope everyone else had a great Christmas, and I hope to see those of you I missed this time sometime next year! Here's hoping the weather conditions are better the next time I visit :)

Facebook, your ads annoy me
I feel like it's that annoying person who asks you "why are you single?"
I'm sure it's some dumb algorithm, but still. :P

This blog is written by a man
I just entered my blog URL into GenderAnalyzer and it says that this blog is written by a man. Must be my keen logical brain coming out in my posts. ;)
